Scope:
The Business Unit Manager is responsible for the development, growth, management, and execution of all merchandising business within an assigned geographic territory. This role leads, trains, and supports Merchandising Managers, oversees store reset execution, and ensures all programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to company and client standards. The Business Unit Manager manages territory operations, including scheduling, quality assurance, payroll approvals, reporting, staffing support, and client communication. Success in this role requires a hands-on, organized leader with strong communication skills and experience in merchandising, beverage, retail operations, or a related industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development, growth, and execution of all merchandising business within the assigned geographic territory.
  • Train, manage, coach, and support Merchandising Managers to ensure consistent performance and successful program execution.
  • Ensure all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards are effectively communicated and followed by the team.
  • Oversee store reset execution, including developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), schedules, and processes to support consistent and efficient execution.
  • Review documentation to confirm completion, quality, and satisfaction of store resets and merchandising programs.
  • Coordinate scheduling, field team assignments, and operational resources throughout the assigned territory.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll approvals, expense reporting, hotel tracking, and other required administrative responsibilities.
  • Participate in hiring and termination procedures within the assigned territory and provide staffing support as needed.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for client communication regarding programs operating within the assigned territory.
  • Monitor program execution and team performance, identify operational challenges, and implement solutions to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Provide operational support to other territories as needed, including travel, staffing assistance, and program execution.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and documentation while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of beverage, merchandising, retail, or field operations experience preferred, particularly experience with beverage products and store resets in a Convenience Store setting.
  • Prior management, team leadership, and/or recruiting experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage field-based teams, coordinate multiple priorities, and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage reporting, payroll, expenses, and operational documentation.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance required.
  • Must have an insured personal vehicle suitable for the position, including a truck, van, or SUV to hold large boxes and supplies.
  • Must have a smartphone and PC/laptop capable of supporting reporting and administrative responsibilities.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 8–12 weeks per year, including overnight hotel stays.
  • Must be comfortable working in retail environments, including extended periods on your feet and occasional work in cold vaults and walk-in coolers.
