Scope:

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, profitability, and growth of multiple convenience store locations across districts. The Director of Operations ensures that all stores operate efficiently, adhere to company policies, achieve operational excellence and deliver exceptional customer service. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, exceptional analysis and decision-making skills and performance management to achieve business objectives. Strong ownership of the full fiscal store operations budget process is required.
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all Company Convenience Stores.
  • Ensure compliance, develop and propose revisions to company policies, procedures, and standards aligned with the strategic growth plans.
  • Monitor store performance, identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Supervise the Facilities Manager to ensure all store locations are well maintained and comply with Federal, State and Local safety standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with merchandising, loss prevention (LP), fuel operations, HR, marketing, and store teams to ensure seamless operations and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, support, and inspire Regional Managers, District Leaders, and Facilities Manager, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to review performance, discuss strategies, and set goals.
  • Partner with Human Resources to identify training needs and opportunities for professional development for all levels of leadership and associates within the Company.

  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Analyze financial reports to monitor sales, margins, and expenses.
  • Implement strategies to drive revenue growth and improve profitability across all stores.
  • Lead the budget process for the stores, providing guidance and oversight to ensure accurate forecasting and financial planning.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to expand market presence and achieve long-term growth.
  • Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify trends, competitive risks, opportunities for growth and market expansion. Recommend strategic initiatives and operational improvements to capitalize on market trends and consumer preferences.
  • Create key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate district and store performance. Track progress towards goals and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President to align store operations with overall company strategic goals, including retention targets.
  • Ensure all stores comply with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budget process for all store locations including staffing model development and implementation.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis and forecasting to support budget planning.
  • Monitor and manage budget performance throughout the fiscal year, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Regional Operations Managers and District Leaders to ensure budget adherence and financial accountability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Proven Leadership with fuel and convenience stores
  • Proficient with PDI Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft, including Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration within the team
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines
