Scope:

The Director Business Development is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing both short and long-term sales initiatives. This position will target existing and new markets by performing the following duties and personally developing a highly effective group of sales professionals while working in a collaborative environment to achieve outstanding performance.

Director Business Development Responsibilities:

Sales Growth

  • Achieve or exceed all established sales goals.
  • Achieve or exceed all established market share and revenue goals.
  • Develop and implement the long-term vision and strategy for the department to include benchmarking and a process for achievement.
  • Increase sales (share of wallet) per existing clients as goaled.
  • Collaborate with marketing personnel to ensure sales strategy is aligned with the marketing strategy.
  • Ensure the sales team is aligned with all marketing initiatives for flawless execution of the plan.

Management

  • Responsible for the direct supervision for all activities of the Outside Sales Representatives, Sales Support Coordinator and Cardlock Customer Service Representatives.
  • Oversees and directs the performance of Contracted Inside Sales Representatives.  
  • Sets individual sales goals for all team members, reports on KPIs (monthly, quarterly, annually) and holds each team member accountable for their performance on a consistent basis.
    • Hold consistent sales team meetings to assess current progress towards established goals.
    • Provide consistent accurate sales reporting and data to management.
  • Responsible for creating, implementing, and updating departmental P&L, expense budget, forecasts and KPI’s, and presenting to senior management for approval.
    • As a senior member of the organization, this position will provide coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback to all team members on a consistent basis.
    • Create and implement an annual training plan for all product lines and market segments to direct reports.
    • Conduct scheduled ride-a-longs with sales representatives on customer sales calls.

Service to Clients, Vendors & Team

  • Provide the highest levels of customer satisfaction to ensure customer retention.
    • Cultivate and deepen client relationships by conducting scheduled one-on-one meetings, assist sales representatives with maintaining client relationships when needed and negotiating and closing deals as appropriate.
    • Position will serve as a point of contact to resolve customer issues or concerns.
  • Maintain vendor requirements and standards.
    • Work with key vendors to set and achieve goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, managers, and company leadership to obtain established goals.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree in Business.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Participation in off-hour events such as trade shows, customer and community events as required.
